Secret Service investigating discovery of substance in White House that tested positive for cocaine

The White House went on high alert and was briefly evacuated Sunday night following the discovery of a suspicious powdery substance.

An initial test indicated that the substance was cocaine, and the Secret Service is now leading an investigation of the matter, according to Breitbart.

The main questions are, of course, who the alleged illicit drugs belonged to, as well as how and when they made it past security to get inside the White House with the illegal contraband.

Investigation ongoing

The Washington Post reported that according to unnamed sources "familiar with the matter" and a recorded dispatch call from the D.C. Fire Department's hazardous materials unit, the initially unidentified substance preliminarily tested positive for cocaine.

According to Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, the suspected drugs were found in a "work area of the West Wing" during a routine sweep of the premises by Uniformed Division agents and were subsequently deemed to not pose a threat.

The substance has since been sent off for additional testing to confirm the preliminary positive test result for "cocaine hydrochloride," per a recorded dispatch call of the D.C. Fire hazmat crew.

Guglielmi noted that there is now "an investigation into the cause and manner" of how the suspected drugs made it into the White House in the first place.

Suspects include Hunter Biden, White House staffers and employees, or reporters

National Review reported that many social media users quickly pointed a finger of blame at Hunter Biden -- a logical conclusion given his admitted and documented history of drug abuse and addiction, particularly involving crack cocaine.

Indeed, Hunter was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 2014 after he tested positive for cocaine use, and his own memoir states that he was at one point "smoking crack every 15 minutes" during a particularly dark stretch of his life in recent years, to say nothing of the countless photos and videos found on his abandoned laptop that display rampant drug use.

And, per the New York Post, Hunter Biden was at the White House on Friday with his wife and young son ahead of a holiday weekend getaway to Camp David with President Joe Biden and other members of the Biden family prior to returning on Tuesday to host an Independence Day event at the presidential residence and office.

Yet, while it is certainly possible that the suspected cocaine found in the White House belonged to the president's scandal-plagued son, it seems just as likely that it belonged to a White House employee or staffer, or perhaps even a credentialed journalist, in light of a report that the substance was discovered "in a storage facility in a cubby routinely used by White House staff and guests to store cell phones."

That said, White House employees and staffers, who undergo rigorous background checks, would be taking a huge risk with their careers and freedom to try and bring illegal narcotics into the highly secured White House.

Leftists blame Don Jr. for White House cocaine find

There is still another theory of who the suspected cocaine may belong to, according to Just the News, as some progressive leftists on social media have pointed a finger at Donald Trump Jr., who they often accuse, without evidence, of having a cocaine problem.

However, that seems particularly unlikely due to the fact that Trump Jr. hasn't been at the White House since January 2021, roughly two and a half years ago.
