"The View" co-creator Bill Geddie dies at 68

Liberal television fans were saddened last week to learn that "The View" co-creator Bill Geddie died at the age of 68.

According to People magazine Geddie confirmed her father's death on Friday, telling the publication that he passed away at home on Thursday because of a "coronary" issue.

Geddie's daughter calls him "the greatest man I knew"

"My father was the greatest man I knew. He was an upbeat guy who was always cracking a joke," People quoted Allison Geddie as saying.

"When he had an opinion everyone wanted to hear it and they trusted what he had to say. Everything he touched turned to gold. He was kind, supportive, and had impeccable integrity," she continued.

"We are devastated by this loss but are so grateful that we got this incredible man in our lives for as long as we did," Ms. Geddie went on to add.

People noted that Geddie helped launch "The View" alongside legendary television personality Barbara Walters in 1997 and served as an executive producer on the show until 2014.

Family recalls how Geddie was known for "connecting with people"

During his tenure, Geddie wracked up some 13 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and was bestowed with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

People cited a longer statement from Geddie's family that recalled how the television was known for "connecting with people" and offering "positive guidance."

"He did so with enthusiasm mixed with sarcasm," the statement explained, adding that Geddie had a "special style of humor"  which was "was filled with puns."

"He believed in honesty. He was a kind man of integrity and always wanted to do the right thing. He lived by example. The small things made him happy too," it stressed.

Joy Behar credits Geddie for having "kept us together"

Geddie's passing was marked by "The View," which described in a tweet as "one of television’s most well-respected producers."

"The View" panelist Joy Behar spoke up regarding Geddie as well, saying, "As a producer, he kept us together and was very loyal to his staff. Bill loved comedy and plenty of laughs not to mention a good cigar."
