All six members of Michigan's congressional Republican delegation have endorsed Donald Trump for president, further greasing the skids for Trump as he clears a path to his party's nomination in 2024.

The endorsements from Reps. Tim Walberg (R-MI), Bill Huizenga (R-MI), John Moolenaar (R-MI), Jack Bergman (R-MI), Lisa McClain (R-MI), and John James (R-MI), are a powerful statement of support for Trump in the pivotal battleground state.

"We’re proud to announce our full endorsement of President Donald J. Trump," they said.

All of the members were endorsed by Trump in the midterm elections last year. Their statement of support cited Trump's record of achievement, as well as his historic victory in Michigan in 2016.

Trump wins big

Trump is the only Republican presidential candidate to win the state since 1988. Michigan will be critical to Republicans' hopes of taking the White House in 2024.

"America was prosperous, the economy was strong, the world was a safer place and Michiganders were better” under Trump, the statement read.

“President Trump has proven he has the ability to deliver results on Day One and also the ability to win in key battleground states like Michigan, being the only Republican to win a Presidential race here since 1988."

James issued a separate statement saying the Biden agenda has been "detrimental to Michigan’s middle-class."

Trump pounded that message while campaigning in Michigan last month, warning Biden's electric car push would devastate workers in the Rust Belt state that flocked to Trump's protectionist message in 2016.

Biden reacts

Trump put a historic dent in the Midwestern "blue wall" in 2016, winning Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania - only to lose all three states by narrow margins in 2020.

Critics of Trump argue the president is now unelectable, but he has established a formidable lead in polling and endorsements over his primary challengers, including Florida governor Ron DeSantis, whose campaign has struggled since kicking off in May.

DeSantis has the backing of over 20 members of Michigan's state legislature, despite his failure to win support from the House, where he previously worked.

Trump's latest endorsement sweep provoked a sharp response from the Biden camp, which accused Michigan "MAGA Republicans" of "doubling down on the same extreme agenda that cost them the 2020 election."

The Trump camp said the Michigan sweep shows "Republicans are rallying behind President Trump because they know he is the only person to stop Joe Biden and his destructive policies that have killed the economy and made Americans less safe."
