Donald Trump shared some loving words of praise toward his famously reclusive and glamorous wife, describing her "mystery" as part of her beauty in an interview with Megyn Kelly.

"I think part of the beauty is that mystery," Trump told Kelly on her podcast.

Trump had been asked what people misunderstand about his wife - whom the media have spent years trying to read.

Trump comments on Melania

What people don't get about Melania is that she doesn't need to chase the spotlight, Trump said - comparing his "confident" and "introspective" companion to Hollywood actress Greta Garbo.

"She was a great actress, But she was very reclusive, never did an interview. I don’t see Melania as like that, but she’s introspective, and she’s confident… She doesn’t need to be out there [to get interviewed]," he said.

"She has confidence. She has a lot of self confidence."

A recent topic of speculation has been Melania's absence from her husband's court ordeals, leading many in the press to paint her as disinterested in her husband's political ambitions and their mounting burdens.

But no less than the New York Times reported that Melania remains "defensive" of her husband and "deeply distrustful" of the media.

Contrary to the speculation swirling everywhere, Trump described his "very strong, even keeled" wife as unfazed.

"She's a very calm person, I think that's what people like about her," he said.

Blacklisted....

Trump also blasted the media's unfair treatment of his wife, noting that she was blacklisted by Vogue once he entered politics. But it doesn't bother her too much, he said.

"It's so sad, but she doesn't care, she's been on the cover of the magazines for a long time, and she was on the cover of Vogue before," he said.

"She was actually very friendly with Anna Wintour, but once I ran for politics that was the end of that, and that's okay," he said.

Melania is known to be very protective of her husband and their only son together, Barron - who is now taller than both mom and dad. The 17-year-old stands at an incredible 6 foot eight inches,

Trump said his son is doing "very well" and excelling in sports and academics as he looks at colleges.

"Barron's very tall – about six eight. And, and he's a good kid. He's a good looking kid. He's a great student, very good student," he said.
