Trump prosecutor longtime Democrat donor, was previously accused of misconduct
A survey commissioned by CBS News and carried out by YouGov between June 9 and June 10 found that 76% of Republican voters believe President Donald Trump's recent indictment is politically motivated.
Newly uncovered information about one of the individuals prosecuting Trump will likely heighten those suspicions.
Prosecutor has long donated to Democrats
As Breitbart reported on Tuesday, Federal Elections Commission (FEC) records show Assistant United States Attorney Karen Gilbert has a long history of financially supporting Democrats.
This included donating $1,000 to in 2020 President Joe Biden's campaign along with $250 to the Biden Action Fund.
She also provided $500 to the Democratic National Committee in 2013 and made donations to President Barack Obama's 2012 and 2008 presidential campaigns worth $800 and $1250, respectively.

Gilbert was reprimanded for making secret recording
Breitbart noted that this is not the first time that Gilbert has been the focus of controversy as she "was once reprimanded by a federal judge for secretly recording a defense lawyer and his investigator."

Fox News reported that Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday in which he pointed to Gilbert's history.
Gaetz also asked that information regarding Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigation of former President Trump be made public.
This includes revealing how Smith's "office is structured" as well as providing "all staff rosters, phone lists, or similar records, within the custody or control of the Department of Justice, depicting all employees hired by or detailed to the office of Special Counsel Jack Smith."
Marjorie Taylor Greene moves to defund investigation
"While there are innumerable valid legislative purposes for this request, it should be obvious that doing due diligence in vetting an office that has apparently done no vetting of its own personnel, or worse, might affirmatively be seeking to staff with sanctioned lawyers and partisan hatchet-men (and women), is an entirely appropriate purpose and one small reason I am requesting this information," Gaetz wrote.
"The 118th Congress has procedural tools in place to allow for targeted recission of funds from components or subcomponents of agencies that are not operating in the public interest," he added.
Fox News noted that Gaetz's letter came a day after Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced a measure to strip Smith's investigation of its funding.
