Just hours after a shooter nearly ended his life in an assassination attempt, former President Donald Trump shocked the Republican Party once again by announcing his 2024 running mate.

The former president announced that Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio will run with him on the 2024 ticket. Vance was high up on the VP shortlist and the decision didn't come as much of a surprise to many of his supporters.

While much is known about the Ohio Republican senator and where he stands on the issues, little is known about his wife, Usha Vance.

The New York Post provided a rundown of her background and more on Vance's family.

Who is she?

To kick off the Republican National Convention on Monday, Usha joined her husband as he formally accepted the VP nomination. Both of them greeted many in attendance.

Usha's credentials are markedly different and quite impressive compared to former second ladies and gentleman, as she has a deep legal background and has clerked for some of the biggest names in the judicial system.

The NY Post noted:

The possible second lady, a graduate of Yale Law School, is a civil litigation attorney who clerked for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

She also clerked for Justice Brett Kavanaugh while he was a judge on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.

She was raised by Indian immigrants and was raised in the San Diego area, according to the report.

The NY Post added:

A professional profile on the website of law firm Munger Tolles & Olson, where Usha Vance worked from 2019 until recently, says she worked with a “wide variety of sectors, including higher education, local government, entertainment, and technology.”

Social media reacts

Trump supporters praised Usha and seemed to agree that she would make an excellent second lady if J.D. Vance and Donald Trump win the 2024 election.

"We will have the most beautiful First and Second ladies in American history," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "They’re awesome! MIGA! Making India Great Again."

If her husband is elected, Usha will be the first Hindu spouse of a president or vice president.
