Trump warns of 'beyond control' epidemic of migrant crime

As the 2024 presidential candidates work hard to make their respective cases to the American electorate ahead of November, former President Donald Trump is homing in on a particular area of concern he believes has gotten appreciably worse during the administration led by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

As Fox News reports, during a Wednesday rally in Asheville, North Carolina, Trump sounded the alarm about what he believes is a new type of crime resulting from the Biden team's open borders policy and one which he described as “beyond control.”

Trump holds forth on migrant crime

In Trump's estimation, it would be nearly impossible for any country to effectively manage the influx of migration the U.S. currently sees, and he suggested that the situation for America is on a path of unsustainability.

“They all said I was wrong when I said that migrant crime will reach epidemic proportions, and now it's much worse than that,” Trump told the assembled crowd of supporters.

He continued, “It's beyond control. We have a new category of crime. It's called migrant crime, and I think it's gonna end up being the worst category of all.”

In an effort to bolster his broader point, Trump alleged that in the past week alone, migrants in the United States had been accused of committing rapes, murders, and a host of other serious crimes.

“Nothing good is going to happen from this. And now it's getting more and more violent,” the former president declared.

Stemming an alarming tide

As Fox News noted, on Tuesday, federal agents found and arrested an immigrant from Haiti who had been released on a bond of just $500, despite having faced charges of child rape in Massachusetts.

In another concerning incident, a migrant from Nicaragua who was accused of the rape of a woman in Brooklyn and who had an ICE detainer attached to him for a prior sexual assault arrest ended up walking free due to a plea agreement struck with local prosecutors.

Though Trump characterized the current state of affairs as “beyond control,” that is not to say that he lacks a plan of action should he reclaim the White House this fall.

Trump explained, “If Kamala wins, you will have mass amnesty and citizenship for all the Biden-Harris illegals that poured into our country.”

“If I win, you will have the largest deportation operation in American history starting at noon on Inauguration Day 2025.”

Harris' plans still unclear

To date, Harris has managed to avoid answering questions or sitting for any interviews in which she might have to explain her true position on the issue raised by Trump or to justify the work -- or lack thereof -- on border-related issues in the years since she was appointed by Biden to lead in this realm.

However, those who share Trump's concerns likely had their fears of a Democratic Party win reinforced by a recently resurfaced video from late 2019 in which Harris vowed to close immigration detention centers “on day one” if elected president, something which could release 29,000 illegals -- and upwards of 7,000 convicted criminals -- into the country's interior. Whether she can -- or will even try to -- distance herself from such a pledge as her campaign moves forward is something only time will tell.
