White House gave prestigious appointment to woman who bought Hunter Biden's art

While Hunter Biden has spent the past several years selling his art, the White House insisted in 2021 that he would not know the identity of his buyers.

Yet a new report asserts that wasn't the case in at least two instances. What's more, one of those purchasers received a prestigious appointment from the White House.

Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali is a major Democratic donor

In an article published on Monday, Business Insider cited "three people directly familiar with Hunter Biden's own account of his art career" as saying that one of his buyers was Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali.

Naftali is a Los Angeles based real estate investor and author who has long been a major contributor to Democratic candidates.

Insider noted that in addition to providing the Biden campaign with $13,414  and giving $29,700 to the Democratic National Campaign Committee, Naftali also hosted a fundraiser last year alongside Vice President Kamala Harris.

While it is not clear exactly how much Naftali bought Hunter Biden's art for, Insider did obtain "internal documents" from his gallery showing that one purchaser shelled out $875,000 for 11 paintings.

Naftali given "cushy" post

Interestingly, President Joe Biden also appointed Naftali to serve on the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.

The president's critics were quick to point out the suspicious nature of that situation, including Fox News host Jesse Watters.

"Business Insider just revealed one of the people who paid for Hunter’s art work. Her name is Elizabeth Naftali," Watters remarked.

"She’s not an art collector. She’s a Democrat Donor and she’s a friend of the Bidens. Joe Biden appointed her to a cushy government post shortly after Hunter’s art show," he added.

Another art buyer helped Biden with his tax bill

Meanwhile, Insider identified the other notable buyer of Hunter Biden's art as being Los Angeles attorney Kevin Morris.

The New York Post reported in 2022 that Morris previously paid off a delinquent $2 million tax bill for Biden and also helped him with living expenses.

Insider noted that for its part, the White House released a statement reading, "Hunter Biden is a private citizen who is entitled to have his own career as an artist. We are not involved in his art sales, and any buyers of his art are not disclosed to the White House."
