WNBA star Kelsey Plum and NFL player Darren Waller made headlines last year when the pair announced that they had gotten married.

Yet in a development which has left fans shocked, Fox News reported this week that the sports power couple is splitting up.

Plum says that she is "devastated" in cryptic post alluding to split

According to the network, online court records from Clark County, Nevada show that Waller, who plays as tight end for the New York Giants, has filed for a joint petition for divorce.

Meanwhile, Plum alluded to breaking up with her husband in a cryptic post on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter.

The Las Vegas Aces point guard began her statement on Tuesday by saying she is "devastated" before adding, "I walked through fire for that man but now I see it's time to go."

"God has given me an incredible life, and I'm truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends. One day I'll share my story, today is not that day," the professional basketball player continued.

Waller and Plum no longer follow one another on their social media accounts

"Thank you for the grace to process my pain, to forgive and move forward. Today and everyday I will continue to choose joy," she concluded.

Plum also referenced the Bible verse Philippians 1:6, which reads, "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."

TMZ Sports reported in January that Waller denied rumors that he and Plum were moving towards divorce in a since-deleted Instagram post.

Waller seen dancing to a break-up song in video posted to TikTok

In the video, Waller addressed an earlier video posted to TikTok which showed him dancing to a remixed version of a break-up song.

Waller wrote the caption "Stay strong kings!!!" and included several hashtags in his post, including one which read "heartbroken."

In his follow-up video, the professional athlete went on to express surprise that had interpreted his actions as being a sign that there were difficulties in his marriage.
