As First Lady, Michelle Obama was not afraid to wear the pants in her marriage to Barack Obama.

Her provocative fashion style encapsulated her "progressive" take on gender roles and was a frequent source of praise in the fawning media - and criticism from conservatives.

In a far cry from the classy elegance of Melania Trump or Jackie Kennedy, Michelle Obama made some tasteless - and occasionally revealing - fashion choices over the years, as reported by Glam.

Obama's fashion mistakes revisited

In the most notorious example, the First Lady showed off her "girlboss" persona with a sleeveless dress in her White House portrait.

The image emphasized the First Lady's strong, many would say masculine physique.

Over the years, Obama continued to remind the American people that she had little interest in modesty.

Years before anyone had heard of John Fetterman, Obama thumbed her nose at the Congressional dress code with a sleeveless dress during her husband's first Joint Session to Congress.

While meeting with the Pope, Michelle O made clear she would not be outshined by anyone with a blue $2,000 Carolina Herrera dress. And while meeting the late Queen Elizabeth II, she opted for a J-Crew cardigan - an option deemed "too casual" by the fashionistas at Glam. 

At the 2016 White House correspondents' dinner, Obama opted for a Givenchy mesh dress - apparently mistaking the event for a nightclub.

America's girlboss...

Since leaving the White House, Obama has continued to prove that she won't be deterred from dressing like a single 20-year-old.

At an event last year to promote her book The Light We Carry, she looked "more like a street-style star than a former first lady," reports InStyle, with an all-leather look that laid bare her massive ego and desire to be treated like a hip celebrity.

But all the adoration in the world isn't enough to satisfy Obama's sense of entitlement. She's still out there complaining about perceived racial slights from over a decade ago!

According to Obama, America wasn't "ready" for her natural hair texture during her time in office.

No longer under pressure to compromise with the American people, Obama is finally free to be herself....

Say what you will, but Michelle Obama dresses like her personality - loud, brassy, arrogant, and supremely confident.

And whatever her flaws, she is a role model for the next generation of women. God help us!
